There is a lot of evidence that remote workers are more satisfied and happier than their office-bound counterparts. It is common knowledge that employees in general are less happy than they have ever been. The reasons may surprise you, but there are ways to solve them.

There is no substitute for face-to-face communication

That’s what many people think. Research has shown that remote workers are more satisfied with their jobs than office workers. According to a recent survey by Gallup, approximately 10 percent of employees are actively disengaged in their job, but only 6 percent are if they work remotely. As communication technology continues to improve, we can expect more companies to hire remote workers in order to keep costs down and retain talented individuals who may not be able to relocate for work. Don’t worry about telecommuting, it’s actually pretty great!

A lack of social activity at work does not have a negative impact on employees

Employees who work remotely are just as happy with their jobs and are just as satisfied with their social lives as those who do not work from home according to a study. Home workers had a better work-life balance than office workers, and they also reported higher levels of job satisfaction. The findings show that co-workers are not necessary for good relationships at work. Telecommuters have larger social networks outside of their jobs, which makes them feel more connected to their friends and family. The study shows that people in regular employment spend most of their time at work in isolation, which leads to less healthy lifestyles.

Being immersed in your work produces increased productivity

It may seem like being a remote employee takes more effort than working in an office. A number of studies show that remote workers are happier and more productive than their office-bound counterparts because they have more freedom to structure their workday in a way that best suits them. By scheduling work on their own time, remote employees can be most productive at all hours of the day instead of just during business hours. When you hire remote workers, you will notice a spike in productivity.

Remote workers develop better organization skills

Many office workers live in constant fear that their documents and personal belongings will be lost forever, but remote workers have learned to keep their organized. When it comes to separate work and personal tasks, the way you work from home will demand more organization skills. It is easier to take responsibility for your time and focus on getting things done if there is a clear dividing line between you and your boss. Keeping a clear desk space at all times will help you stay on top of your projects.

Working from home improves relationships with family members

Remote workers have a better relationship with their family members because they are happier and more satisfied with their jobs. It’s possible that working from home gives employees an opportunity to help out with children or grandchildren while still making a living. Employees who work from home can save time and money because they don’t have to wear expensive clothing that can get stained during their commute. Employees who work remotely can hire more household help since they will be at home more often. Increased family time is one of the reasons why remote employees are happier than those who work from home. Remote workers say they have closer relationships with their friends as well.

Remote workers suffer less stress than office workers

Almost half of remote workers say that they have less stress in their lives. Office workers say stress is the biggest problem at work. 23% said they have fewer relationship problems with family and friends because they work remotely, and only 14% said they have no stress. Even if you still interact with other people on a daily basis, remote work has its benefits for satisfaction.
