Musk bashed remote work in a meeting with employees on Thursday, after calling 10 minutes late from a hotel room

According to multiple reports of the meeting, the CEO told jittery staffers that it is much better if they are on location.

Musk said that there could be exceptions for the very best employees on the site.

It wouldn’t make sense to fire someone who is exceptional if they can only work remotely.

CNBC reported that after the meeting, some employees of the social media company created a meme about how to make themselves seem exceptional so they could continue to work from home.

Most employees at the social media company are allowed to work from home indefinitely.

During the highly-awaited event, Musk appeared to ignore the irony of demanding employees come into the office and showing up late to a virtual meeting.

According to reports, Musk’s internet connection seemed spotty and his sound cut out during the meeting.

All employees at Musk’s company have been ordered to return to the office full-time, with extremely limited exceptions.

Musk wrote in an email to corporate staff that anyone who wanted to do remote work had to be in the office for at least 40 hours per week. This isn’t as much as we ask of factory workers.

If there are particularly exceptional contributors for whom this is impossible, I will approve their exceptions directly. A remote branch office unrelated to the job duties must not be a main office for the company.

One user asked Musk what he would say to employees who think in-person work is an antiquated concept after seeing the email.

Musk suggested that they pretend to work somewhere else.

Musk will be in charge of five companies if the deal goes through.

Since there are only 168 hours in a week, it would take 200 hours for Musk to work in every company office.
